    Hegen’s teats are designed to encourage seamless transition from breast to bottle feeding, minimising nipple confusion for your baby.

    Our velvety soft, elliptical shaped teat closely mimics a mother’s lactating breast while the off-centre teat design promotes upright feeding similar to a position in which babies are nursed to reduce the risk of milk backflow and resulting in mid-ear complications and colic.

    The builtin anti-colic air vent reduces unwanted air intake and prevents bubbling of milk, saving precious nutrients from oxidation.

    Additional teats of various sizes (all sold separately) allow mothers to simply swap to their choice of teats for baby’s perfect feed as time goes by. Simply assemble the teat into the collar and your Hegen bottle instantly becomes a feeding lid for baby.

    Hegen Teats Month Chart

    – 0 for Extra Slow Flow (0 months)
    – 1 for Slow Flow (1-3 months)
    – 2 for Medium Flow (3-6 months)
    – 3 for Fast Flow (6 months and beyond)
    – Y for Thick Feed (for thickened liquids)
    *All Hegen teats only have one hole; flow rate of each teat is determined by the size of the hole

    • Hegen’s Extra Slow Flow teat is suitable from birth (even for premature or low birth weight babies) as it mimics the initial flow of transitional breast milk.
    • Hegen’s Slow Flow teat is suitable from the first month as it mimics the initial slow flow of breast milk.
    • Hegen’s Medium Flow teat is suitable from the third month as it gradually increases the milk flow rate as babies develop their ability to coordinate both the suckling and swallowing reflex.
    • Hegen’s Fast Flow teat is suitable from six months and beyond.
    • Hegen’s Thick Feed teat has a special Y cut which allows for an extra fast flow and is suitable for semisolids, thicker feed (e.g. milk with added cereal or rice powder).
    Directions for Assembly

    – To remove transparent cover
    With the Hegen logo on the Collar facing you, push the Transparent Cover backwards (away from you) to open.
    – To assemble teat into collar
    Step 1: Gently squeeze the anti-colic air vent to ensure it is open.
    Step 2: Place the Collar over the Teat
    Step 3: Pull the Teat through the Collar until it is snugly fitted.
    Tip: Press on all 4 sides to ensure Teat is fully secured. Place on the Transparent Cover for hygiene purposes.

    As a general guideline, due to hygiene purposes, silicone parts are encouraged to change every 3 months or when wear and tear occurs, whichever earlier.

    The Hegen Teat

    1. Mimics The Mother’s Breast

    Velvety soft, elliptical shaped teat closely mimics the natural breast of mothers to promote natural latch-on for babies. This minimises nipple confusion, making it easier to combine breast and bottle feeding.

    2. Prevents Colic

    Air venting bypasses the milk to prevent aeration, minimising the oxidation of precious nutrients. This reduces excessive air intake, safeguarding your baby from tummy upsets.

    Asymmetrical teat for upright feeding

    Hegen’s super soft teats are asymmetrical and off-centre to allow for a natural upright feeding position at a 20 degrees tilt, similar to nursing from the breast. This minimises the tilt that conventional baby bottles require, reducing the risk of milk back-flow which may cause mid-ear complications.

    Know when to upsize your teat

    An indication of progress to the next teat flow can be observed through a baby’s body language and feeding behaviour (examples can be found below).
